SOFIA (Bulgaria), June 30 (SeeNews) – The Bulgarian Nuclear Regulatory Agency intends to open a tender for provision of technical support in relation to the decommissioning of Kozloduy NPP units 1 to 4 and management of radioactive waste, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development said on Friday.
The overall budget for the assignment is 3 million euro ($3.4 million) with procurement expected to start in the third quarter of 2017, the EBRD said in a statement.
The tender will envisage assessment of licensee’s documents subject to regulatory approval, assistance in development and maintaining of the Bulgarian regulatory framework up-to date with the current EU experience and good practices in the areas related to decommissioning and radioactive waste management, as well as assistance in activities related to regulatory capacity strengthening in the decommissioning and radioactive waste management area, the lender said.
The contract will be fully financed by the Kozloduy International Decommissioning Support Fund (KIDSF).
KIDSF, which was set up under a framework agreement between the EBRD and the Bulgarian government, assists in restructuring, upgrading and modernisation of the energy production, transmission and distribution sectors as well as in improving energy efficiency.
