September 13 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's regional development ministry said on Friday that it will will invest 6.46 million levs ($3.7 million/3.3 million euro) in a project for preventing landslides on the mountainous road leading to the Rila Monastery - a UNESCO world heritage site.
The project envisages reinforcement of slopes along the third-class road in southwestern Bulgaria prone to landslides, as well as design and construction works, regional development minister Petya Avramova said in a statement.
Earlier this month, Bulgaria's government said it will allocate up to 447 million levs to works for prevention of landslides in the next three years, to be carried out by the government's Road Infrastructure Agency.
