September 7 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's tourism ministry said on Tuesday that it will distribute 11.3 million levs ($6.9 million/5.8 million euro) to 89 local tour operators to compensate for their losses during the pandemic.
The sum is part of a 16.5 million levs government scheme aimed at supporting the tourism sector through the pandemic, the tourism ministry said in a statement.
The support measure will help tour operators reimburse the expenses made by their clients for trips in the period March-December 2020 that were cancelled to limit the spread of the disease.
The companies will receive between 150 levs and some 1.3 million levs under the support scheme but not more than the equivalent of 15% of their turnover reported for 2019, according to the statement.
