June 5 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria will build waste treatment plants worth a total of 32.5 million levs ($19.4 million/16.6 million euro) under three projects co-financed from the EU's operational programme Environment 2014-2020, the country's environment ministry said.
One of the projects envisages the construction of four waste treatment plants which will service six municipalities in western Bulgaria for a total of 17.4 million levs, the ministry said in a statement on Monday.
The project, which should be completed within 30 months, will benefit from 13 million levs of EU co-financing.
The second project, with an estimated value of 9.6 million levs, envisages the construction of two waste treatment facilities, which will service the Gorna Malina and Elin Pelin municipalities, near Sofia. EU co-financing for the project totals 7.2 million levs. Works have to be completed within two years.
The third project, with an estimated value of 5.5 million levs, of which 4.1 million levs EU co-financing, envisages the construction of a composting installation, which will service Maritsa municipality, in southern Bulgaria. The composting facility must be completed within 19 months.
