Bulgaria's current account was in deficit of 199.6 million euro ($216.8 million) in January and February, compared to a surplus of 269.5 million euro in the like period of 2021, the central bank said on Wednesday.
In the first two months of 2022, the current account deficit was equal to 0.3% of the projected gross domestic product (GDP) for the year, as imports of goods surged by an annual 45.6% to 7.4 billion euro or 9.9% of GDP, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement.
The surplus in the first two months of 2021 amounted to 0.4% of last year's GDP.
