August 22 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's Smolyan municipality said on Thursday that it has signed a 14.2 million levs ($8.0 million/7.3 million euro) deal with a group of local companies for the construction of a new checkpoint at the border with Greece and adjacent road infrastructure.
The consortium comprises the companies BG Lend Co, Kopex and Co, SK-Varna 2007, and Agrobuild, the municipal council said in a notice.
The contract was signed on July 15.
Four bidders took part in the selection procedure for awarding the contract.
The new border checkpoint will be located between the Bulgarian town of Rudozem and the Greek city of Xanthi.
Currently, there are six checkpoints at the border between Bulgaria and Greece.
