SOFIA (Bulgaria), June 14 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria is expected to produce some 5.0 million tonnes of wheat in 2017, the agriculture ministry said on Wednesday.
The forecast compares to 5.66 million tonnes of wheat harvested in 2016, the largest amount since 1980.

The country put to winter wheat 1.1 million ha last year and 130,000 ha to barley, the ministry said in a press release.
Barley output is expected to be similar to last year's, it added. Bulgaria harvested 697,787 tonnes of barley last year, according to agriculture ministry data.
Thanks to the favourable weather conditions in May and June, the quality of this year's wheat and barley crop is expected to be high, the ministry said
