June 9 (SeeNews) - The European Commission said that it is providing 10.8 million euro ($11.6 million) to Romania and 45 million euro to Bulgaria for border surveillance.
The funds will be added to the national programmes under the Border Management and Visa Policy home affairs funding, it said in a press release on Thursday.
The Commission also said it will launch calls open to all member states for the development of electronic surveillance systems at land external borders, allocating a total 140 million euro to this.
Furthermore, it will support reception and asylum systems of member states under pressure with120 million euro, with particular attention to reception of unaccompanied minors and reception capacity at the border.
