February 17 (SeeNews) - The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency said on Monday that it has detected the first case of bird flu this year, at a duck farm in the town of Rakovski, in southern Bulgaria.
At the time the disease was found, there were 5,830 birds at the farm, the food safety agency said in a statement.
All birds at the farm will be culled.
The agency has set up a three-kilometre prevention zone and a ten-kilometre surveillance zone around the farm.
