May 11 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's government is reallocating 134 million levs ($74.2 million/68.5 million euro) in European Union (EU) funds to support local small and medium-sized enterprises suffering from the coronavirus crisis, prime minister Boyko Borissov said.
The funds are being redirected from the operational programmes on transportation and environment to the operational programme Innovation and Competitiveness 2014-2020, Borissov said in a statement published on his Facebook page last week following a cabinet meeting.
The government will also grant a total of 31 million levs from EU and national funds for social-economic measures and to Bulgaria's economic sectors affected by the coronavirus pandemic, the prime minister said.
According to Borissov, the Bulgarian state will also provide a total of 1.5 million levs as coronavirus-related humanitarian aid to a total of 12 countries from the Western Balkans region, the EU's Eastern Partnership and the Southern Neighbourhood, under the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP).
