May 11 (SeeNews) - Between 1996 and 2016, Bulgaria's ratio of investment to GDP increased by 13.7 percentage points to 19.1%, more than in any other EU member state, the bloc's statistical office said on Thursday.
The only other EU member state from Southeast Europe (SEE) to record an increase in the ratio of investment to GDP between 1996 and 2016 is Croatia, which posted a rise of 1.3 percentage points to 19.7%, Eurostat said in a press release, posted on its website.
Slovenia recorded the most significant drop among EU member states in SEE - by 5.5 percentage points to 18.4% in 2016.
In Romania too the ratio of investment to GDP decreased - by 0.5 percentage points, from 23.2% in 1996 to 22.7% in 2016.
On average, the ratio of investment to GDP in the EU declined from 21% in 1996 to 19.7% in 2016.
