July 6 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's retail sales fell by 20.4% year-on-year in terms of volume in May, the sharpest decrease among all European Union member states for which data is available for the fifth month of 2020, the bloc's statistical office said on Monday.
On a monthly comparison basis, Bulgaria's retail sales remained unchanged in terms of volume in May, after falling by 2.0% in the previous month, Eurostat said in a statement. All other EU member states posted an increase in their retail trade volumes during the review period.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, Romania posted an annual retail sales decrease of 4.0%, below the EU average of 4.2%. The country's retail trade volume added 20.1% month-on-month.
