July 14 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's seasonally-adjusted industrial output rose by 20.2% year-on-year in May, which was the highest growth rate among all 27 EU member states, the European statistical office said.
The strong performance in Bulgaria came about as industrial production in the bloc grew by 2.7% on the year in May, Eurostat said in a monthly report on Wednesday.
Month-on-month, Bulgaria's industrial output posted a 1.5% increase, the second-highest among the five member states from Southeast Europe (SEE), behind only Greece, where industrial production climbed 2.6%, the data showed. In the EU as a whole, industrial output edged up by a monthly 0.6% in May.
Amongst EU members from SEE, Romania and Slovenia recorded the only decrease in industrial production on a monthly comparison basis, of 0.1%.
