May 3 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from fossil fuel combustion are estimated to have risen by 4.6% in 2015, the sharpest increase among EU member states in Southeast Europe (SEE), the bloc's statistics office said on Tuesday.
Within the EU, Bulgaria posted the fifth highest increase of CO2 emissions from energy use, Eurostat said in a report.
Croatia came second in the SEE region with 3% increase, followed by Romania and Slovenia with 2.4% and 0.5%, respectively.
In the EU, CO2 emissions from fossil fuel combustion are estimated to have grown by 0.7% in 2015.
