September 16 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) said on Wednesday it launched a tender worth an estimated 42 million levs ($25.4 million/21.5 million euro) for the construction of the southern bypass road of the country's second-largest city of Plovdiv.
The construction of the 4.8 kilometre long road will be financed from the state budget, RIA said in a statement.
Candidates have until October 15 to file their offers.
Construction works are expected to be completed within 18 months from the start.
The new bypass road is expected to significantly improve transit traffic from the municipalities of Kuklen and Asenovgrad, both in Plovdiv region, to Trakia and Maritsa motorways and from there to Kapitan Andreevo crossing point at the border with Turkey.
