September 5 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria will explore the options to export electricity to North Macedonia and offer its neighbouring country the ability to reserve natural gas storage capacity at the Chiren underground storage facility, Bulgarian caretaker prime minister Galab Donev said on Monday.
Bulgaria could export up to 200 MWh of electricity to North Macedonia until March 31, Donev said after meeting his North Macedonian counterpart Dimitar Kovacevski in Sofia, as seen in a video broadcast by state television BNT.
The technical and other terms of the possible export of power and delivery and storage of natural gas to North Macedonia will be worked out by a joint working group starting from Wednesday.
The two countries will also explore an agreement for the construction of additional infrastructure capacity to carry natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Bulgaria to North Macedonia.
Access by North Macedonia to the Chiren facility could mean that Bulgaria's neighbouring country would be able to rely on quantities to be delivered through the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector and through the under-construction floating LNG terminal at Alexandroupolis in Greece.
