May 19 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria is considering allowing all restaurants to reopen as of June 1, after restaurants and bars with outdoor seating resumed operations on May 6, prime minister Boyko Borissov said on Tuesday.
Bulgaria aims to relax coronavirus restrictions in lockstep with the neighbouring countries, Borissov said in a video file published on the website of state TV broadcaster BNT. Greece has decided to reopen indoor restaurants as of June 15, he added.
Last week, Borissov said that the government is planning to propose a cut in the value-added tax rate applicable to restaurants and entertainment establishments registered under the country's Tourism Act to 9% from 20% currently.
The measure is aimed at softening the blow from the coronavirus pandemic, which has forced the Bulgarian government to shut down restaurants across the country in order to stop its spread.
