MONITOR
- Russia is interested in the commissioning and construction of a reactor at Bulgaria’s sole nuclear power plant Kozloduy, a seniour executive of Russia's Atomstroyexport said.
- Bulgaria’s Regional Development Ministry will cancel contracts worth a combined 160 million levs as part of government measures against the grey economy in the country, Regional Development Minister Rosen Plevneliev said.

- The preliminary contract for the construction of Bulgaria’s nuclear power plant Belene has been extended by three months until the end of March 2010. The initial contract between Russia's Atomstroyexport, chosen for the construction of the plant, and Bulgaria’s power grid operator NEK signed in November 2006 was set to expire in January next year. Bulgaria has put on hold its plan to build the 2,000 megawatt power plant over financial difficulties and the withdrawal of the strategic investor in the project, Germany's RWE.

- Russia is ready to pay Bulgaria’s annual fee to the international project company set up for the construction of the Burgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline, a senior company offficial said. The pipeline is designed to carry Russian oil to Europe via Bulgaria and Greece.
- Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary and Bulgaria are among the European Union countries with the highest risk of financial instability for the next 12 months, the European unit of Japanese financial group Nomura said. Iceland is the European country with the highest risk of financial turmoil, Nomura said.
- Bulgaria ranks forth in the world in terms of decline of real estate prices in the third quarter of 2009 after Dubai, Estonia and Latvia, London-based Knight Frank consultants said. The year-on-year decline of Bulgarian real estate prices reached 28% in the third quarter.

- Bulgaria and Russia will create a joint company for the development of a ferry line linking the city of Varna, on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, with Russian ports in the Caucasus region.
- Bulgarian electronics manufacturer DZU is launching production of cable forms for the automotive industry. The order has been placed by Germany’s AFL Automotive.
