SOFIA (Bulgaria), July 26 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria’s government said on Wednesday it authorized the transport minister to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with his Macedonian counterpart to complete the construction of a railroad that will connect the two countries’ capitals.
Under the MoU, Bulgaria commits to completing the railroad connecting Sofia to the border with Macedonia via the towns of Pernik and Radomir, by 2027, the government in Sofia said in a statement.
Macedonia commits to completing the railroad in the direction of Kriva Palanka - Deve Bair - Bulgarian border by 2025.
Bulgaria's transport minister Ivaylo Moskovski has agreed with his Macedonian counterpart Goran Sugareski that the project for the completion of the Sofia-Skopje railroad will need foreign investment in order to be implemented, the transport ministry in Sofia said last month.
