SOFIA (Bulgaria), June 21 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria's energy ministry said on Wednesday it proposed to set up a working group to explore the options for building a gas interconnector with Macedonia.
Bulgarian state-owned natural gas supplier Bulgargaz had expressed its support for the project back in 2012 when the two countries discussed the idea for the construction of a link between their gas transmission systems, the ministry recalled in a statement, following a meeting of energy minister Temenuzhka Petkova with the visiting Macedonian prime minister Zoran Zaev.
Work should continue with the gathering of information on the feasibility of the project and the interest of the market towards the link, the ministry said.
Bulgaria is currently working on setting up gas interconnections with Greece, Serbia and Turkey.
