April 18 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria has doubled the capacity, for both cargo and passengers, of the railway section between its second largest city of Plovdiv and the city of Burgas, on the Black Sea coast, following the completion of projects for modernisation of three traction stations, the transport ministry said on Wednesday.
A total of 21 million levs ($13.3 million/10.7 million euro) were invested in the project for the modernisation of the Yambol, Karnobat and Burgas traction stations, the transport ministry said in a statement.
The project benefited from EU financing under operational programme Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014-2020.
The upgrade of the three traction stations is part of a larger project for modernisation of the Plovdiv-Burgas railway line.
