SOFIA (Bulgaria), October 30 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria has harvested nearly 133,000 tonnes of gourds and pumpkins in 2016, making it the biggest producer in the European Union, Eurostat said on Monday.
Among the countries of Southeast Europe, for which data was available, non-EU Macedonia came in second with 16,350 tonnes of gourds and pumpkins harvested in 2016, the bloc’s statistical office said in a statement.

Romania was third with 12,350 tonnes, while non-EU Bosnia and Herzegovina followed with 3,550 tonnes.
Croatia harvested 2,940 tonnes of gourds and pumpkins in 2016, the data showed.
