December 4 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian households have spent 510.6 million euro ($604.8 million), or 1.6%, of their total consumption expenditure, on alcoholic beverages in 2016, matching the EU average, the bloc's statistical office said on Monday.
Bulgarian households have spent on alcohol the lowest share of their total consumption expenditure among the EU member states from Southeast Europe, Eurostat said in its report on Household spending on alcohol.
In Slovenia, households have spent on alcohol 1.7% of their total consumption expenditure, or 382.8 million euro.
In Romania household have spent 2.7%, or 2.6 billion of their total consumption expenditure in 2015. Figures for 2016 were not available for Romania.
Data for Croatia was not available, Eurostat noted.
Households in the three Baltic countries Estonia (5.6%), Latvia (4.8%) and Lithuania (4.2%) devoted the largest share of their total consumption expenditure to alcoholic beverages in the EU.
