February 9 (SeeNews) - State-owned gas supplier Bulgargaz said on Thursday it is proposing to Bulgaria's energy regulator a 4% monthly cut in the wholesale gas price applicable for March, to 119.33 levs ($65.80/61.01 euro) per MWh.
The company will submit on March 1 a definitive request to the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) for the price to be applicable next month, after taking into consideration the prices of the relevant components of the pricing formula as of February 28.
Last week, EWRC approved a wholesale natural gas price of 124.34 levs per MWh valid for February, representing a decrease of 31% compared January.
In January, Bulgargaz forecast a wholesale natural gas price of 138.82 levs for March.
The commissioning of the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector last October has allowed Bulgaria, which no longer relies on Russia's Gazprom for its supplies, to import cheaper natural gas from Azerbaijan.
