February 1 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian public gas supplier Bulgargaz proposed to the utilities regulator to approve a wholesale price of natural gas of 124.35 levs ($69.28/63.58 euro) per MWh for February, the company said on Wednesday.
The proposed price is 31% lower than the price in January, Bulgargaz said in a press release.
The submitted proposal is also lower than Bulgargaz’s initial offer of 135.38 levs per MWh.
The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) will now assess the proposal to make the final decision.
The price for January stood at 179.33 levs per MWh, after the regulator endorsed an increase for the second consecutive month.
The country, which until April last year imported almost all of its supply of natural gas from Russia, is now using gas from Azerbaijan delivered via the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector along with liquefied natural gas secured through spot auctions.
