BUCHAREST (Romania), October 30 (SeeNews) – Romanian share indices on Friday ended mostly down in falling volumes, brokers said.
The blue-chip BET index of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BVB, edged down 0.01% to 4,469.06 points. The BET-FI, which tracks the country's five regional investment funds, the SIFs, shed 0.71% to 21,264.81 points.
The composite BET-C index lost 0.24% to 2,653.02. The ROTX index of Romania's 15 most liquid stocks, a joint index of the BVB and the Vienna Stock Exchange, was the only standout, adding 0.62% to 9,383.14.
BVB's turnover fell to 34.1 million lei ($11.6 million/7.9 million euro) from 45.8 million lei, including 12.3 million lei worth of bond trades, on Thursday. The number of traded shares was down to 35.65 million from 67.4 million on Thursday.
SIF 5 Oltenia fell 1.85% to 1.06 lei in the day's largest turnover of 6.8 million lei. SIF 2 Moldova shed 1.03% to 0.96 lei on deals worth 4.4 million lei, Friday’s second largest turnover.
Blue-chip lender BRD closed up 0.81% at 12.4 lei on the regular market in the session’s third largest turnover of 1.8 million lei. The other blue-chip bank, Banca Transilvania, gained 1.72% to 1.77 lei in deals worth 1.0 million lei. Austria’s Erste Bank jumped 3.57% to 122.0 lei in turnover of 1.7 million lei.
SIF 1 Banat Crisana ended 1.9% lower at 1.03 lei in deals worth 319,000 lei. SIF 3 Transilvania gained 1.59% to 0.64 lei in 1.5 million lei turnover.
Blue-chip oil and gas group OMV Petrom dipped 1.89% to 0.26 lei in 546,000 lei turnover and blue-chip oil refinery Rompetrol Rafinare advanced 1.25% to 0.0648 lei in deals worth 549,000 lei. Blue-chip power grid operator Transelectrica slid 0.83% to 11.9 lei in deals worth 1.3 million lei.
The BET-XT index, which tracks the 25 most liquid companies on the bourse, including the SIFs, declined 0.26% to 431.26 points. The BET-NG, which includes companies from the energy sector and utilities, was down 0.8% to 593.26 points.
Rasdaq-C, the composite index of the over-the-counter market RASDAQ, climbed 0.93% to 2,218.46. Turnover on the RASDAQ halved to 548,000 lei from 1.15 million lei on Thursday.
