November 23 (SeeNews) - The total value traded on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BVB, increased by 20% month-on-month in October, reaching 205 million euro ($233 million), the bourse said on Friday.
Investors have intensified their activity following a third quarter marked by a lower presence in the market, the BVB said in a press release.
The total value traded on the main market of BVB increased in October as compared to September for all the types of financial instruments already issued, both when taking into account the volumes reported on the spot market and the amounts from the deal market.
For the equities, on the spot market, the total trading value grew by 4%, reaching 140 million euro as compared to135 million euro in September. Including the deals, the overall growth pace went past the 20% mark in October, as volumes increased to 197 million euro from 164 million euro in September.
For the fixed income instruments, the traded value surged by 60% in October as compared to September and by over 50% for the structured products segment. For other financial instruments, such as fund units or ETFs, the increase soared to 160%.
The value of the financial instruments already issued and traded on the BVB totalled 2.2 billion euro in the first 10 months, similar to the figure reported in same period of last year, while the average daily trading value for equities amounted to 8.7 million euro.
Ten months into 2018, the total return indices, which also include the dividends, posted double-digit growth rates. As such, the BET-TR index closed last month at 8,520 points, up by 19% from the beginning of the year, while the BET-XT-TR index reached 1,140 points, up by 13%.
The stock market capitalization of Romanian companies amounted to 20.8 billion euro at the end of October, while the capitalization of all listed companies on the main market of BVB exceeded 36.5 billion euro.
