August 11 (SeeNews) - Bosnia's Zivinice municipal government said it will hire Austrian construction company Strabag in mid-August for the construction of a 7.5 million euro ($8.8 million) regional solid waste landfill.
The Austrian company will have 13 months to complete the project, the municipal government said on Monday.
In December, the Bosnian town of Zivinice signed a 5 million euro ($5.7 million) loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to finance the construction of the landfill. The remaining 2.5 million euro has been granted by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.
The landfill in Zivinice, some 100 km north of Sarajevo, will be used by the town and the adjacent municipalities of Banovici and Kladanjm benefiting a total of 180,000 citizens.
