February 17 (SeeNews) - The government of Bosnia's Zenica-Doboj canton said it has decided to award a 30-year concession contract for coal exploration and production to local firm Kakanj d.o.o.
The concession contract will be signed very soon, the cantonal government said in a statement on Friday.
The concessionaire will be obliged to pay a fee of 0.80 marka ($0.5/0.4 euro) per tonne of produced coal, with the minimum amount of coal output set at 1.0 million tonnes per year. The minimum one-off fee is set at 250 marka per hectare of exploited coal mining area.
The concession area spreads on 5,888 hectares of land in in the central Bosnian municipality of Kakanj.
The Zenica-Doboj canton is one of ten cantons forming the Federation, which is one of two autonomous entities forming Bosnia. The other one is the Serb Republic.
