May 30 (SeeNews) - Bosnian company Western Mining has been awarded a 15-year concession contract to build and operate a lead and zinc mine in Celebici, in the eastern part of the country, local media reported.
Western Mining manager Vladimir Rudic said that the company has already invested some 7.0 million marka ($4.0 million/3.6 million) in exploration works which confirmed that the concession site spreading on 42 square kiliometres east of the town of Foca holds estimated deposits of around one million tonnes of zinc and lead, news portal klix.ba reported.
Production at the mine located some 30 km from Foca is expected to start within two to three years. It will be carried out through both open pit and underground mining in order to ensure optimum utilisation of ore deposits.
