December 5 (SeeNews) - Bosnia's Una-Sana canton said it has launched a public tender to award a concession contract for bauxite ore exploration and production at the Ostrelj deposit in Sanski Most.
The concession area spreads on 28.76 ha of forested land owned by Bosnia's Federation entity, the economy ministry of the Una-Sana Canton said late last week.
The concession will be granted for a period of 20 years. The concessionaire will be obliged to produce and sell 20,000 tonnes of red bauxite annually.
The concession fees for red bauxite will be paid according to the following principles - a one-off fee of a minimum 200 marka ($121.2/102.3 euro) per ha is charged after the concession deal is signed; a fee of at least 130 marka per ha is charged per annum for use of state-owned land; a fee for excavated raw material is set at a minimum of 1 marka per tonne.
Bidding is open to all domestic and foreign legal entities that have a Bosnian-registered firm active in production of mineral raw materials.
The bidding process will close 15 days from publication of the public call in Bosnian dailies.
The Una-Sana Canton is one of 10 cantons in the Federation, one of two autonomous entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Serb Republic.
