February 9 (SeeNews) - Bosnia's Tuzla International Airport plans to build a third gate and a customs warehouse in 2022, the government of the Tuzla Canton said.
The airport's plan for 2022 also foresees the reconstruction of the parking space, lighting some 900 metres of its runway and completing technical acceptance for its passenger terminal building, the government of Tuzla Canton said in a statement on Tuesday.
It added that low cost carrier Wizz Air plans to increase the number of destinations from Tuzla to 22 in seven European countries in the period between April and October. Currently, Wizz Air connects Tuzla to 14 destinations in six countries.
The Tuzla airport is also looking to continue negotiations for new flights with other low cost carriers which have started in 2021.
Passenger numbers at Bosnia's Tuzla airport increased to 299,031 in 2021, compared with 228,603 the previous year.
Tuzla airport is one of Bosnia's four international airports. The remaining three are situated in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar.
The Tuzla Canton is one of ten cantons making up the Federation - one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other entity is the Serb Republic.
