October 10 (SeeNews) - The economy of Bosnia's Serb Republic expanded by a real 3.6% on the year in the second quarter, accelerating from a 3.1% growth in the previous quarter, data from the entity's statistical office shows.
In the second quarter of 2017, the Serb Republic's GDP growth stood at an annual 3.1%, stats office data showed.
According to seasonally adjusted data, the entity's economy expanded 0.9% compared to the previous quarter, in comparison to a quarterly growth of 0.6% in the January-March period.
Real annual GDP growth was mostly backed by expanding wholesale and retail trade, which rose 6.2%, followed by construction with growth of 5.3%, mining with 4.1%, and agriculture with 3.4%.
The Serb Republic's GDP totalled 2.5 billion marka ($1.6 billion/1.3 billion euro) at current prices in the April-June period, up from 2.3 billion marka a quarter earlier.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is made up of two entities, the mostly Serb-dominated Serb Republic and the mainly Bosniak and Croat populated Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
