May 12 (SeeNews) - Zeljeznice Republike Srpske [BANJ:ZERS-R-A], the railway operator of Bosnia's Serb Republic, said on Friday its net loss narrowed slightly to 4.4 million marka ($2.4 million/2.2 million euro) in the first three months of 2017, from 5.9 million marka a year earlier.
Operating income rose 2.5% to 14.6 million marka in the three months through March, while operating costs decreased to 18.7 million marka from 19.6 million marka, Zeljeznice RS said in a financial statement sent to the Banja Luka Stock Exchange.
Earlier this year, employees of Zeljeznice RS took to the streets in protest against the multi-million marka debt the company has towards them.
The Serb Republic and the Federation are the two autonomous parts that make up Bosnia. Zeljeznice Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine is the railway company of the Federation.
