BANJA LUKA (Bosnia and Herzegovina), January 18 (SeeNews) – Bosnia's Serb Republic will carry out investment projects worth a total of 854.5 million marka ($533.5 million/ 437 million euro) in the period 2018-2020, local media reported on Thursday.
The largest investments are planned in the sectors of energy, transport infrastructure, agriculture, forestry and water management, health care, and refugees and displaced persons, news daily Nezavisne Novine reported.
Investments in these sectors have a combined share of 89.12% of total investments planned for 2018-2020.
Investments in transport dominate, with a total allocated cost of 189.9 million marka. The most demanding projects in this sector are the construction of the Banjaluka - Doboj motorway, where the Serb Republic plans to invest 120 million marka this year, and the construction of a 41 million marka bridge over the Sava river.
The energy sector will absorb 171.5 million marka over the next three years, with 125.7 million marka earmarked for the construction of wind farm Hrgud.
The largest share in the financing of planned investment projects comes from foreign sources, or 77.51%, while domestic sources will participate with 22.49%, Nezavisne reported citing the government's three-year programme.
The entity also has 7.6 billion marka worth of planned projects for which it has not yet secured funding, the programme shows.
The Serb Republic is one of the two entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina, the other is the Federation.
