September 24 (SeeNews) - The trade deficit of Bosnia's Serb Republic narrowed to 707 million marka ($ 423 million/361 million euro) in the first eight months of 2021, compared with a gap of 747 million marka in the same period of 2020, data of the entity's statistical office showed.
Exports increased by 29.2% year-on-year in the January-August period, reaching 2.750 billion marka, while imports added 20.4% to 3.457 billion marka, the Serb Republic's Institute of Statistics said in a monthly report on Thursday, citing preliminary figures.
The Serb Republic's main export destinations in the period under review were Croatia and Serbia, absorbing 15.1% and 14.4% respectively of the entity's total exports.
The largest importers to the entity were Serbia and Italy, with shares of 18.7% and 14.9% of all imports, respectively.
In 2020, Bosnia's Serb Republic trade deficit fell by 7.4% to 1.1 billion marka.
The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Federation.
