BANJA LUKA (Bosnia and Herzegovina), April 6 (SeeNews) – Bosnia’s Serb Republic is mounting an effort to clear the way for Polish freight car producer EEK Wagon to invest in local railway company Zeljeznice Republike Srpske.
The Republic's ministries of finance and transport as well as Zeljeznice Republike Srpske are tasked with carrying out as soon as possible steps to find the best way for EEK Wagon to invest in the railway company, the government in Banja Luka said on Thursday.
The government also said a 20 million euro ($26 million) loan is planned for the supply of new open wagons for Zeljeznice Republike Srpske.
Last month, EEK Wagon representatives expressed interest in opening a factory for the production of freight cars through a strategic partnership with Zeljeznice Republike Srpske, the government of the Serb Republic said at the time.
The Serb Republic and the Muslim-Croat Federation are the two autonomous entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina. Zeljeznice Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine is the railway company which operates in the Federation.
