September 24 (SeeNews) - Bosnia's Serb Republic consumer price index (CPI) increased by 2.1% in August, after rising by 1.7% in July, the entity's statistical office said.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices in the Serb Republic were 0.2% higher in August, after a dip of 0.1% in July, the Serb Republic's Institute of Statistics said in a statement on Thursday.
In annual terms, prices of transport services rose 9.8% in August, following an increase of 17.7% of fuels and lubricants; prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages went up 3.0% due to 24.3% higher prices of oils and fats; while prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose 1.7% as a result of a 2.1% increase of tobacco prices in the entity.
Housing prices dipped 0.1% due to a 2.0% drop in water supply and other utility bills.
The biggest year-on-year drop in consumer prices in August, of 9.4%, was recorded in the clothing and footwear sector.
The Serb Republic's consumer prices fell by 1.2% in 2020, after growing by 0.5% in 2019.
The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Federation.
