SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), September 22 (SeeNews) – Bosnia's Serb Republic consumer price index (CPI) fell by an annual 1.2% in August, after decreasing by 1.3% in July, the entity's statistical office said on Tuesday.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices in the Serb Republic edged down 0.2% in August, after losing 0.4% in July, the Serb Republic's Institute of Statistics said in a statement.
In annual terms, prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco in the entity rose 3.8% in August, food and non-alcoholic beverages advanced 1.3%, while prices of clothing and footwear fell 9.8%. Prices in the sector of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels added 0.6%.
The biggest year-on-year drop in consumer prices in August, of 10.7%, was recorded in the transport sector.
The Serb Republic's average consumer price inflation slowed to 0.5% in 2019, from 1.2% in 2018.
The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Muslim-Croat Federation.
