February 3 (SeeNews) - Bosnia's Sarajevo Centar municipality said it is considering the development of a 20 million marka ($11 million/10 million euro) project for the construction of a cable car that will link the Betanija city park to the Nahorevska hills.
The planned facility will be 2.5 kilometres in length, with 40 cabins for up to 10 people each. The cable car will have a capacity to carry 1,400 passengers per hour, the Sarajevo Centar municipality said in a statement on Friday.
The project was unveiled by representatives of local consultancy firm IPSA Institut and Italy's Leitner Group that specialises in the construction of cable cars, according to the statement.
The facility will have a life span of 40 years. The 20 million marka investment is intended to cover the purchase of equipment and installation costs only, excluding spending on land expropriation and the relevant permits.
The head of Sarajevo Centar municipality, Nedzad Ajnadzic, said that the cable car will be one of the priority projects for the municipality, which plans to build a hotel and recreation facilities at the Nahorevska hills.
