August 24 (SeeNews) - The government of Bosnia's Sarajevo Canton said on Thursday it has signed with a consortium of local companies a deal worth 7 million euro ($7.9 million) for the construction of the second section of the south longitudinal road.
The works on the 1.5 km long section will be carried out by Euroasfalt and ZGP and financed with a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the municipal government said in a statement.
The construction should be completed within the next 12 months and is expected to ease traffic congestion in Bosnia's capital.
The construction of the south longitudinal road began in 2013.
The Sarajevo canton is one of the 10 cantons of Bosnia’s Muslim-Croat Federation, one of the two autonomous entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Serb Republic.
