March 19 (SeeNews) - Passenger traffic at Bosnia's Sarajevo airport has decreased by two-thirds in the last three days, compared to the same period last year, local media reported on Thursday, as the number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease increased.

A total of 1,201 passengers have entered Bosnia through Sarajevo International Airport in the last three days, while 893 passengers have departed, private TV channel N1 reported.

The international airport in the Bosnian capital currently operates flights to and from Istanbul, Cologne, Belgrade and Zagreb.

Austrian Airlines has cancelled its service connecting Vienna to Sarajevo until March 29, the airlines' flight schedule shows.

The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Bosnia rose to 44 after the Federation entity's health ministry reported on Thursday that 15 patients have tested positive for the disease. The health ministry of Bosnia's other entity - the Serb Republic - said on Wednesday that the confirmed cases on its territory number 29.

Passenger numbers at Sarajevo International Airport edged up to 110,336 in the first two months of this year, from 106,615 in the like period of 2019. The airport served almost 1.144 million passengers in 2019, up 9% compared to 2018.
