November 11 (SeeNews) - The transport ministry of Bosnia's Sarajevo Canton said it has signed a 40 million marka ($22.6 million/20.5 million euro) agreement with the Ilidza municipality for the construction of a 13 km long tramway track.
The project will be financed through a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB), or from other financing sources if needed, the cantonal transport ministry said in a press release on Friday.
The tram track will connect Ilidza to its western suburb of Hrasnica. Construction works will launch in 2020.
The Ilidza - Hrasnica tram track project is part of Sarajevo Canton's development strategy until 2020.
The Sarajevo Canton is one of 10 cantons making up the Federation, one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other entity is the Serb Republic.
