SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), April 24 (SeeNews) – Bosnia's Federation is inviting expressions of interest for consultants interested in assisting the entity's transport ministry in establishing a road safety unit to assess and manage road safety, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development said on Monday.
The consultant would engage in preparing amendments to the road safety by-laws and procedures for road safety auditing and inspection to bring these in line with EU Directive 2008/96 on road safety management, including the necessary details about licensing body and training curricula for road safety auditors, the EBRD said in a statement.
Following the completion of the assignment, at least ten auditors at key institutions and private consultations will be certified.
The assignment is expected to start in Q2 2017 and has an estimated overall duration of 12 months. The deadline for the submission of expressions of interest is May 21.
The assignment is a condition sought by the EBRD as it mulls issuing a loan to the Federation's public road company to support the repair and upgrade of its primary road network, particularly of sections damaged during the May 2014 floods, and to improve traffic safety.
The Federation is one of two entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other is the Serb Republic.
