July 21 (SeeNews) - The government of Bosnia's Federation entity said on Thursday it will allocate some 19.7 million marka ($10.3 million/10.1 million euro) to finance expenditures related to the construction of a new airport in Bihac.
The funding will be used to cover expenditures related to land expropriation, the construction of a take-off runway, preparation of studies, supervision and other services for the preparation of the project, the Federation's government said in a statement.
The financing will be allocated under the entity's 2022 budget.
Bihac currently has only a small sports airport. In 2016, the Federation decided to work towards building a bigger airport for civilian flights to help boost the economy of the region. The construction of a new airport could require an estimated investment of some 100 million marka, according to earlier media reports.
The Federation is one of two autonomous entities forming Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Serb Republic.
