February 7 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's power transmission company MEPSO has signed deals for two projects worth a total of 35 million euro ($38.4 million) with Bosnia's Energoinvest and Croatia's Koncar Elektroindustrija [ZSE:KOEI], respectively, the government in Skopje said on Friday.
Energoinvest will be tasked with the construction of a 400 kV transmission line connecting North Macedonia to Albania, while Koncar will build a power substation near the city of Ohrid, North Macedonia's government said in a statement.
Both projects are backed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the government noted.
The two projects will complete the so-called East-West electricity transmission corridor, connecting the power markets of Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Albania and Italy.
Koncar said in a separate statement on Friday that its contract with MEPSO for the construction of a new 400/110 kV Ohrid substation is worth 14.3 million euro. The new substation will provide an international connection with neighboring Albania at the 400 kV level, the company said.
The contract also includes equipping the other end of the power line, namely the 400 kV Bitola substation.
