SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), September 23 (SeeNews) – Consumer prices in Bosnia and Herzegovina dropped 1.2% on the year in August, after falling by 1.0% a month earlier, the country's statistics office said on Friday.
The decline reflected a fall in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.9%, clothing and footwear by 9.3%, furniture by 0.8%, transport by 5.9%, communications by 1.1%, and other goods and services by 0.4%, the statistics office said in a statement published on its website.
The highest yearly increase of consumer prices in August - by 6% - was recorded in the category of alcohol and tobacco products.
On a monthly basis, Bosnia's consumer price index (CPI) edged down 0.3% in August after decreasing at the same pace in July. The monthly decline was influenced by a drop in clothing and footwear prices by 0.9%, food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.6%, housing by 0.4%, health care by 0.8% and transport by 0.1%.
In 2015, Bosnia and Herzegovina reported an average annual deflation of 1%, following 0.9% deflation in 2014.
The IMF has projected that the country will post an average annual inflation of 1.1% for 2016.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is comprised of two autonomous entities, the Muslim-Croat Federation and the Serb Republic.
