SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), May 28 (SeeNews) – Bosnia and Herzegovina's consumer price index (CPI) decreased by 1.2% year-on-year in April, after advancing by 0.1% a month earlier, the country's statistical office said on Thursday.
On a monthly comparison basis, Bosnia's consumer prices fell 1.6% in April, after losing 0.1% in March, the statistical office said in a statement.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 1.3% on the year in April, prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased by 5.5% and prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels remained unchanged.
At the same time, transport prices fell by 10.9%, clothing and footwear prices dropped by 10.8% and the cost of furniture and furnishing declined by 0.9% on the year, pushing down the CPI index in April.
The statistical office noted that due to difficulties in data collection fro April amid the coronavirus pandemic, it has used the carry forward method for some of the index segments, i.e. using the prices for March in the calculations for April.
In 2019, Bosnia's average consumer price inflation slowed down to 0.6%, from 1.4% in 2018.
