SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), January 7 (SeeNews) – Bosnia’s central government said it has adopted a temporary budget for the first quarter of 2020 to support the state institutions and ensure that the country's international obligations are being serviced in the absence of a regular budget act.
The decision was adopted on December 30 at the inaugural session of Bosnia's new central government, whose formation had been blocked by political bickering for more than a year after the October 2018 general elections.
The temporary financing for the January-March period totals 241.5 million marka ($138 million/123 million euro) and is equivalent to a fourth of the funding allocated to Bosnia's institutions and servicing foreign liabilities under the 2019 budget bill, the council of ministers said in a statement last week.
Bosnia is divided into two autonomous entities - the Federation and the Serb Republic, each with its own government and budget. It also has a weak central government with its own budget.
