March 23 (SeeNews) - ArcelorMittal Zenica, the Bosnian unit of steel maker ArcelorMittal, is set to launch in a few days the overhaul of its blast furnaces plant, in which it will invest 60 million marka ($37.8 million/30.7 million euro), local media reported on Friday.
The overhaul will extend the plant's lifespan and ensure the sustainability of steel production in Zenica for the next 15 to 20 years, news portal ekapija reported.
Some 2,200 ArcelorMittal Zenica employees and a further 1,200 workers from external companies are set to work on the project, with the aim of completing it by end-June.
ArcelorMittal owns a steel plant in Zenica, in central Bosnia, where it processes iron ore from its Prijedor-based mine.
